Integration Guide: Dersalis BioLink

How to integrate hardware devices (MDVR, trackers or telemetry centers) into the Dersalis BioLink ecosystem.

Updated over 2 months ago

1. What is Dersalis BioLink

BioLink acts as a universal connector between physiological sensors (e.g., Polar Verity Sense, Polar 360) and embedded partner systems such as MDVRs, trackers, or telematics units.

The Dersalis app performs all advanced data processing, while BioLink transfers:

  • Real-time physiological alerts (fatigue, cardiovascular risk, thermal stress).

  • Contextual vehicle data received from the partner (weather, speed, harsh events, MDVR information).

This architecture reduces hardware complexity and ensures continuous updates.

2. How does this work?

In this mode, the partner device operates as a BLE Server, while the Dersalis app behaves as a BLE Client, initiating the connection and managing data exchange.

Connection flow

  1. Partner device broadcasts advertising data.

  2. Dersalis app identifies the supported device.

  3. Handshake executed via LE Secure Connections.

  4. App retrieves the GATT service.

  5. Messaging channel remains active during operation.

3. Minimum requirements

Advertising name: must follow a consistent pattern per model.
Mandatory BLE Service:
UUID: 00500040-00bf-00e7-5727-3cf8c3220327

Characteristics

  • Configuration
    UUID: 0000aa10-0000-1000-8000-00805f9b34fb

  • Data to Dersalis
    UUID: 0000aa20-0000-1000-8000-00805f9b34fb

  • Data from Dersalis
    UUID: 0000aa30-0000-1000-8000-00805f9b34fb

4. What partners send to Dersalis

  • Weather conditions

  • Vehicle speed

  • Driving behavior events

  • MDVR information

  • GNSS quality

  • Ignition status

Each message follows a standardized structure including protocol, event type and payload.

5. What Dersalis sends back

When an incident is generated, the app sends:

  • Incident ID

  • Trigger type

  • Timestamp

  • Severity level

  • State (open, finished, closed)

This enables partners to deliver real-time cabin alerts or integrate incident logs into their telematics systems.

6. Key benefits

  • Low-complexity integration based on BLE

  • Secure communication via LE Secure Connections

  • Continuous updates through the mobile app

  • Quick implementation cycle

  • Flexibility to build customized alerts

  • Combined physiological + vehicle data for proactive safety
